Extension of Restricted Burning Period

PUBLIC NOTICE
BUSH FIRES ACT 1954
PART III PREVENTION OF BUSH FIRES
SECTION 18 – RESTRICTED BURNING TIME (EXTENDED)

Pursuant to Section 18, subsection (5B} Bush Fires Act 1954 the Shire of Cranbrook advises due to seasonal conditions the Restricted Burning Period has been extended for a further 14 days to 14 May 2024.

The fuel load across the Shire is in a dry state and until we have substantial amounts of rain the risk to the community remains high.

Please note: Permits to burn are required until 14 May 2024. The Shire of Cranbrook encourages landowners/occupiers carrying out any burning off activities on their land, to please log their activities by calling DFES Communications on Ph: 08 9395 9209. This will assist with volunteer resources unnecessarily responding to private burns, mistaken as a reported fire.

This notice is dated 26 April 2024.
