On Wednesday, 20th October 2021 five Councillors were sworn into office by Mrs Patricia Standish, JP, prior to a Special Meeting of Council. There were four new faces present; George Pollard, Daisy Egerton-Warburton, Lee Casson and Perin Mulcahy, and Peter Slater was voted back onto Council for a second term in office.
The Ordinary Meeting of Council was then held, and the new President and Deputy President were elected; Cr Phil Horrocks will continue as Shire President and Cr George Pollard was elected as Deputy Shire President.
Cr Phil Horrocks thanked his fellow Councillors for the honour and promised to be a strong and strategic leader. He expressed his great pleasure at the inclusion of new Councillors who will bring new life and skills to the Shire of Cranbrook.
He also thanked Peter Denton for his commitment and dedication over the last fourteen years and his contribution to the community and said that,
“Peter was always a strong supporter for the seniors of the Shire, and worked hard to represent the people who had elected him.”
He also thanked Trish Standish, Manager Corporate and Community, for ensuring that the election process went through without a hitch, despite the changes of Chief Executive Officer and Returning Officer during the lead up to the election.
